Passport/Visa All nationals require passports valid for six months after date of entry. Visas are required by all nationals except transit passengers continuing their journey by the same or first connecting aircraft within 24 hours provided they hold onward or return documentation and is not leaving the airport. Visas are issued for stays of up to 90 days and are valid for six months from date of issue. Tourist visas cost £40 for single entry and £50 for multiple-entry. Business visas cost £55 for single entry and £65 for multiple-entry.

One can apply to the Consulate (or Consular section at the Embassy) for visas. Some nationalities are able to get a visa at Antananarivo airport on arrival. Further information can be obtained from the embassy. The time required to process the visas can vary from one day for personal applications to five days for applications sent by post.

Tithe following documents are required when applying for a visa (a) Valid passport (b) One application form (c) Four passport-size photos (d) Return ticket or confirmation of booking from travel agent (e) Fee payable by cheque or cash (f) If applying by post enclose pre-paid, next-day special delivery envelope.

Business visas require (a)-(f) above and (g) Letter of recommendation and confirmation of employment on company-headed notepaper with details about the applicant’s business activity.
